Govt asked to cut clean energy taxes
Chamber calls it an unfavourable decision for the economy

The government should reduce duties and taxes on renewable energy-related equipment in the forthcoming budget to make the source of energy easily accessible for people, said Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Ahmed Hassan Moughal. He opposed the 55-paisa-per-unit hike in power tariff allowed by the Nepra to all power distribution companies on account of fuel cost adjustment for April 2019. The chamber called it an unfavourable decision for the economy as it would further enhance the cost of doing business, increase inflation and affect the growth of business and industrial activities. Moughal said the energy generated through fossil fuels was not only very costly, it was also threatening for the environment, while the government was also spending billions of dollars on oil import.
