Katrina Kaif is known to be rather reserved when it comes to her personal life. For years, she has kept it under wraps and away from the media’s glare as best as she could.

But of late, the starlet seems to be coming into her own. Now 35, Katrina has had her fair share of highs and lows but there is one thing that she has always maintained: the person that she is. Even so, the Baar Baar Dekho beauty has somewhat opened up and recently surprised everyone by delving deep into her past relationships with Salman Khan and Ranbir Kapoor.

Katrina spoke about how her priorities were very different during both the experiences. “When I was with Ranbir, there were a lot of other things that were sharing my focus,” Pinkvilla quoted her as saying. “But now, that has changed. Now, the main thing in my life is films so I can focus on them. Of course, there needs to be a balance between love and work, for sure.”

Salman Khan thinks Katrina's alternate career choice is 'to get married and produce children'

The actor then explained how her equation with Salman has evolved over the years. "The very first film I did with Salman was Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya and that was my third film as an actor. I was new and still trying to find my feet in the industry,” she recalled. “There were also a few days on Partner with Salman and Govinda – the two kings of improvisation. I was like, 'Oh my goodness!’ You feel out of your depth there. But no, with Bharat, there is so much for me as a person. Salman was already Salman Khan when we did our first film. But when I worked on Bharat, I was a different person because the experience is the best teacher."  The upcoming period drama is set to release on Eid.

Fortunately, both Katrina and Salman believe in letting bygones be bygones and remain on friendly terms. In fact, the latter is apparently always playing pranks on her. "Salman pulls everyone's legs. It's his personality that makes everyone feel comfortable. Everyone smiles around him,” she said. “But I'm not a silent lamb. I give it back when I have to."

Katrina admitted she's a “romantic person at heart” who “believes in the beauty and sanctity of love.” She created an example when she hugged Ranbir at an awards show recently. Not just that, the Bollywood bombshell also maintains  cordial relationships with his ex Deepika Padukone and his current girlfriend Alia Bhatt too, at a time when people claim it's impossible to be real friends with those one has dated.

"I'm taking this as a compliment,” Katrina joked. “But yes, if someone who knows me well feels good about my conduct, it's a good thing. I'm not trying to be saintly but it's always easier to just make peace, be friends and to be loving. I'm not doing this to make your life easier. But I'm doing it to make my life easier. It genuinely is more peaceful and you feel lighter and happier when you don't hold on to any anger or grudges."

So, is Katrina looking to restart her quest for true love any time soon? Or is there no space for a relationship in her super busy schedule?  "Who said that? There's lots of space," she signed off.
