Police book 48 for one-wheeling in Ramazan
Traffic police chief urges parents to stop their boys from pulling deadly stunts

City Traffic Police (CTP) in its drive to thwart one-wheeling on motorbikes by young people, booked 48 people during Ramazan.
The daredevil bikers were caught doing stunts particularly around Sehri time. Traffic police and district police had set up special teams to catch youth for riding their bikes dangerously.
Most of the cases have been registered in New Town, Waris Khan and R A Bazaar police stations.
According to Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Muhammad Bin Yousaf, police impounded 1,500 altered motorcycles. These bikes have been specially modified by reducing their weight through removal of mudguards and side covers and increasing the output by enhcing the size of engine’s cylinder and piston. These fiery rides, modified for one-wheeling and stunts, were also impounded under section-550 of PPC.
He said a large number of underage drivers on rash and dangerous driving were issued challan tickets.
He said special squads of CTP were taking action in accordance with the law against one-wheelers and car-skaters and making efforts to control the activity.
Though, the activity was already being checked by traffic wardens but now, several other arrangements had been made to curb the activity, he added.
Special squads comprising Traffic Wardens and District Police personnel were deployed at Murree Road, Flyovers, Peshawar Road, Mall Road, Airport Road and other main city roads.
He informed that traffic -olice officers were directed to keep a vigilant eye on the one-wheelers so that action in accordance with the law could be taken against them.
The CTO said strict action would also be taken against motorcycle mechanics, altering motorcycles for race and one-wheeling.
He said one-wheelers were not only playing with their own lives but they were also a threat for other road users that is why stern action was being taken against them. He said the citizens particularly parents should play their role to curb the activity as one wheeling, rash and negligent driving were the main causes for fatal accidents.
