Murder: Man sentenced for killing wife

Man sentenced to death; also to pay Rs200,000 to the legal heirs of the deceased or face additional time.

FAISALABAD:
Additional session judge Asad Ali has sentenced a man to death for killing his wife in the Thikriwala police station precincts. According to the prosecution, Chak No274JB resident Akram killed his wife Naseem Akhtar over a quarrel two years ago. After observing evidence and questioning witnesses, additional session judge Asad Ali awarded capital punishment to Akram under section 302-B of the Pakistan Penal Code. The convict was also directed to pay Rs200,000 as compensation to the legal heirs of the deceased or face additional time. Akram will have to undergo an additional imprisonment of 6 months if he fails to pay the compensation.
