LAHORE: Judicial Magistrate Sahir Islam on Tuesday rejected acquittal applications filed by Dr Javed Asgher, Dr Ghazanfer Ali Shah and Dr Ziaul Hassan Bukhari, who are accused of negligence in the death of Imanae Malik. The court adjourned till July 5 for the framing of charges against the three accused. On Tuesday, the defence counsel argued that his clients were not involved in the treatment of Imanae Malik at Doctor’s Hospital and they had been falsely implicated in the case. Imanae, 3, died in November 2009 after she was taken to the hospital for minor burn injuries.  The counsel for the complainant, Muhammad Azhar Siddique, argued that the acquittal applications were an attempt to delay proceedings as the police had already thrice investigated the case and thrice found the three accused to be guilty.
