Plastic bags banned, biodegradable bags distributed in Khyber

In light of directions from the provincial government to ban plastic bags, the district administration of the Khyber Tribal District has imposed a complete ban of the usage of such bags on Monday.
Thereafter, the district administration distributed biodegradable bags in two tehsils of the district to provide the public with an alternative.
The bags were distributed during a meeting with local traders, businessmen and trade unionists at the district administration office. Awareness walks were also held in the Jamrud and Bara tehsils.
Moreover, the district administration has launched several operations against polythene bag traders and confiscated their stocks in the market. In its stead, they distributed biodegradable bags.
