WASA takes action against defaulters

RAWALPINDI: Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) blocked gutter lines of three buildings for non-payment of its dues worth around Rs685,000.

The residents were left perplexed with overflowing sewer in front of their apartments and offices.

WASA had blocked sewer connections of three plazas, Midway Shopping Mall, Iqbal Plaza, Commercial Market and Center for Professional Excellence University Satellite Town. According to WASA spokesman, the sewer connections of the plazas would not be restored until the outstanding dues are cleared.

He said the operation would continue and action in accordance with the law would be taken against the defaulters without any discrimination.

He informed that the agency had taken the extreme step on directives of WASA Chairman Muhammad Arif Abbasi and Managing Director Muhammad Tanveer.
