Deepika Padukone or Kendall Jenner: Who wore it better?

Here's our verdict

KARACHI:
There was a lot of tulle and a lot of leg.

Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone turned heads at this year's Cannes Film Festival in an exaggerated Giambattista Valli number. While neon green provided the perfect contrast to her tan skin tone, there was an overdose of ruffles!

But the B-town beauty wasn't the only one. It was only after the hoo-haa surrounding her look died down that Victoria Secret angel Kendall Jenner turned up in an eerily similar gown at the Cannes after party.

The Piku star belted out stunning looks during her visit to the French Riviera, even leaving her husband and actor Ranveer Singh starstruck... Now that's saying a lot!

The starlet kept the rest of her look minimal, courtesy the pastel pink bow that was already a part of her dress as was the ribbon belt - both of which looked like literal accessories. She completed her look with a statement headgear which didn't sit well with many but definitely had us swooning. Her makeup was soft and she opted for nude strappy stilettos.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashian star recently took to Instagram to share a few pictures of her look from the amfAR Cannes Gala. Much like Deepika, the supermodel too opted for a Giambattista Valli tulle gown. She donned a Barbie pink high-low outfit, choosing it from the collection the Italian designer released with H&M.

The dreamy design coupled with a matching pink bow highlighted her fit bod. Kendall let her outfit do the talking with pink strappy stilettos adding the finishing touch.

Verdict: Hands down, Kendall gets to take the trophy home!

The inspiration behind the frill?

The ace designer spoke to Vogue about his collaboration with H&M and what it meant to him and his group of 'Valli girls' and boys.

“The idea is to bring the Valli DNA of extraordinary, of one-of-a-kind, of uniqueness, of couture,” Giambattista said. “We called this Project Love. The thing that makes me most happy in life is if I can make someone happy.”

He added, “It’s beautiful if I can do that for a wider group of Valli girls and Valli boys.”
