Strong ties with Australia stressed
Australian official says huge potential exists for enhance trade and economic linkages
ISLAMABAD:
The exchange of parliamentary delegations between Pakistan and Australia would not only steer the economic cooperation but also help explore the new avenues for increasing bilateral trade between both the countries, said Senate Chairman Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani on Thursday.
He expressed these views in a meeting with Australia High Commissioner Margaret Adamson and discussed matters of bilateral significance besides exchanging views on further boosting cooperation. He said that cooperation extended by Australia in education and development sectors was laudable and Pakistan would like to extend this interaction to other areas of mutual ties, especially promoting parliamentary linkages and enhancing people to people contacts, according to a press release. He underscored the need to explore new avenues of cooperation.
Trade and economic relations were important components of our ties, he added. “Institutional mechanism exists in the form of Joint Trade Committee, which should meet regularly to find ways and means to enhance trade links,” Sanjrani observed.
The Australian official agreed with the views of chairman and said that huge potential exists for enhance trade and economic linkages.
