Funds released for payment of Khasadar force salaries in South Waziristan
The force had refused to perform its duties over non-payment of salaries
Funds have been released for the payment of salaries of the South Waziristan Khasadar force.
The finance department in the light of directions of the Ambassador Ministry has released funds, Deputy Commissioner Noman Afzal Afridi stated.
Over Rs1 billion have been initially issued for the payment of salaries of 4,000 Khasadars force troops, said Afridi.
Khasadar force's salaries had been blocked for the past 10 months, therefore the troops had refused to perform their duties over non-payment of salaries.
Levies, Khasadar forces now part of K-P police: CM
Chief Minister Mahmood Khan in April announced immediate merger of Levies and Khasadar forces into K-P police in order to bring tribal districts under the FATA-KP merger plan.
The chief minister had stated that a notification had been issued in this regard adding that the entire process would be conducted in a transparent manner.
He said that 28,000 personnel of both the forces would benefit from this decision, the chief minister added.
