One killed, four injured after clash in Karachi’s New Sabzi Mandi
SSP Malir says police investigating the incident
KARACHI:
At least one person was killed and four others were injured when two rival groups clashed in Karachi's New Sabzi Mandi on Wednesday.
SSP Malir Irfan Ali Bahadur told the media that two groups opened fire at each other at the vegetable market located in the SITE area of the metropolis. He said police reached the scene and arrested at least two armed men, identified as Momin and Bismillah.
The injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Two of the injured have been identified as Ismail and Ishaq and the deceased has been identified as Saif-ur-Rehman
The cause for the clash is under investigation. “The police are investigating the firing incident and collecting evidence from the crime scene.”
As a result of the unrest, New Sabzi Mandi has been closed for the day while protesters have taken to the streets and blocked one of the roads on Super Highway.
