Accord signed: US to support K-P’s communication strategy

US to help set-up media centers in KP.

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government will establish 24 radio stations across the province. A press release issued here on Monday, said that to provide technical assistance to these radio stations, a Letter of Agreement (LoA) has been signed between K-P and the US government. Acting US Consul General Constance C Arvis and the K-P director information signed the agreement in a ceremony in Peshawar.


Under the agreement, the US government will provide technical assistance to FM Radio channels in the province.


Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti said that these FM radio channels would be run with the help of local communities so as to bring local problems to the fore.

He said that apart from establishing radio stations, the government has also planned for the establishment of its own TV channel, adding that a feasibility study for this is already underway.

The government has chalked out a communication strategy to reach the people and establishing FM radio stations and television channels is a part of the strategy, he added.
