Another war – of words

KARACHI: The war on terror is not just being fought in the hilly terrains of Wana or Orakzai, a more intense battle is being waged in the media and the blogosphere. While we have achieved significant success in destroying their sanctuaries, unfortunately, we have failed at countering the misleading propaganda being disseminated by the terrorists.

The apologists are in abundance in the mainstream media where they come up with a bizarre conspiracy theory every day. The liberals on the other hand are demonised, and frankly, outnumbered. The internet is no exception; by taking advantage of technology, numerous websites glorifying acts of violence have popped up. It is imperative that the state and its more enlightened citizens devise a counter strategy to refute militant propaganda.
