Wildlife and Parks Punjab (W&PP) Director General (retd) Sohail Ashraf said on Tuesday that around Rs80 million out of Rs100 million of revenue target has been achieved so far by the W&PP.

Chairing a meeting of all regional officers of the province in his office, the DG directed all regional officers to do their level best to complete revenue targets before June 30, adding that the officers performing well would be appreciated while those failed to achieve their given targets would face departmental action.

The DG said that from now on, all licenses would be issued for a period of one year, while applicants could apply and get a new license from their respective districts whereas these licenses could be renewed from any district of the province. He directed all the officers to cancel shooting license of hunters engaged in unlawful hunting.

Wildlife DG assigned Faisalabad Deputy Director (Wildlife Sciences) Sajjad Hussain to conduct auditing of all wildlife breeding farms to check the sale and purchase data and other relevant details. The DG also imposed a complete ban on issuance of new individual possession licenses of mammals of deer family. He ordered to check all individual possession licenses which were issued in the past so that presence of licensee and mammal could be ascertained.


Wildlife dept to increase facilities at parks

The meeting decided to prohibit wildlife inspectors or watchers from compounding cases of unlawful hunting. Only officer concerned would be authorised to compound the case and receive the departmental compensation.

Convener of the committee which was constituted a few weeks back to computerise data of licenses, updated the meeting that more than 95% of work had been completed.
