Vivek Oberoi deletes Tweet against ex Aishwarya Rai Bachchan after severe backlash
Actor has posted a meme allegedly making fun of Ash's love life
Vivek Oberoi has been in the news again lately for all the wrong reasons.
On Monday, the 42-year-old actor posted a distasteful meme allegedly poking fun at Bollywood superstar Aishwarya Rai Bachchan - whom he dated in the early 2000s - and her personal life.
In the post, Vivek dug out an old picture of Aishwarya and her other ex Salman Khan old and drew a comparison between her love life and the results on the ongoing Indian elections.
Disgruntled fans accused the Saathiya star of taking sly dig at his former girlfriend by saying that she dated Salman Khan and reffering to it as an opinion poll. She then moved on to Vivek himself (the exit poll) and ultimately, ended up marrying Abhishek Bachchan (the end result).

Vivek's post did not sit well with Twitterati and other Bollywood celebs alike. Sonam Kapoor, for one, called his tweet "disgusting and classless."
After receiving so much slack, the Dum actor finally deleted the post and went on to explain that he did not mean to disrespect anyone by it. According to Times of India, Vivek also claimed his Twitter account had been hacked.
Later on, he took to Twitter saying, "Sometimes, what appears to be funny and harmless at first glance to one may not be so to others. I have spent the last 10 years empowering more than 2,000 underprivileged girls, I can't even think of being disrespectful to any woman ever."
Vivek added, "Even if one woman is offended by my reply to the meme, it calls for remedial action. Apologies. Tweet deleted."
