Govt committed to boost private sector

ISLAMABAD: The government is fully committed to catalysing the private sector to contribute towards strengthening the national economy and boosting the country’s exports, said Commerce Secretary Ahmed Nawaz Sukhera. Talking to the Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC) Chief Executive Mian Kashif Ashfaq on Monday, Sukhera pointed out that the government would also extend all-out assistance to exporters and make policies, which would help promote the country’s exports all over the world. He said that modalities of the new economic reforms were being considered, which would include ease of doing business, regulatory reforms and enhanced competitiveness of exports. “Prime Minister Imran Khan is expected to announce these reforms very soon”, he added. Sukhera said that the ministry was concentrating on providing maximum protection to local industry in the second phase of China Pakistan Free Trade Agreement. He urged Pakistani manufacturers and exporters to avail this facility to strengthen Pakistan’s economy and help bridge the import-export gap. Speaking on the occasion, Ashfaq extended complete support to the government for implementing economic reforms in the country. He termed the role of the government crucial to facilitate private sector and provide an enabling environment for investors and businesses.
