ECP sends letters to parliamentarians, demanding explanation within 15 days

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has sought an explanation from over 40 parliamentarians after detecting discrepancies in their annual statements of assets and liabilities from 2017 to 2018.
It came to the fore during the scrutiny of annual statements of the members of parliament and provincial assemblies by the ECP.
According to sources, the parliamentarians with questionable accounts include Khursheed Shah, Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda, Federal Minister Omar Ayub, Hina Rabbani Khar, Federal Minister Zubaida Jalal, Amir Haider Hoti, Shahzain Bugti, Kanwal Shozaib, wife of Daniyal Aziz, Mehnaz Aziz, Ali Haider, Saleem Rehman, Basheer Khan, Sher Ahmed Khan, Muhammad Nawaz Khan, Saleh Muhammad Khan, Anwar Taj, Imran Khattak, Noor Alam Khan, Arbab Amir Ayub, Muhammad Iqbal Khan and Mansoor Hayat Khan.

In addition, discrepancies have also been reported in the accounts of Malik Ahsanullah Tawana, Qaiser Ahmed Shaikh, Rao Muhammad Ajmal, Muhammad Munir Watto, Syed Fakhar Imam, Ahmed Hussain, Mian Shafiq, Syed Mustafa Mehmood and Murtaza Mehmood.
Similarly, discrepancies have also been reported in the annual statements of Aftab Shaban Merani, Khalid Lund, Noor Muhammad Shah Jilani, Sikandar Ali Raho Patto, Abdul Shakoor Shah, Shaista Pervez, Nusrat Wahid and Shahnaz Baloch.
