Addressing a news conference, members of the Young Engineers Association asked the provincial government to also announce provincial and federal posts for engineers and to induct them on existing vacancies.
“Despite spending hundreds of thousands of rupees on an engineering degree, young engineers are sinking in the mire of unemployment,” said Muhabbad Khan Marri, one of the organisers, while demanding immediate recruitment.

The engineers said that the provincial government should allow engineers to apply to the 2,100 vacant posts in various government departments, which they said would ease the tension of jobless engineers.
“70 per cent quota should be allocated to provincial engineers in infrastructure and energy projects of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), while unemployed engineers should be appointed to vacant posts of engineering lecturers in engineering colleges,” they demanded.
