You can now book a Careem without internet

Careem On-Call is available for bike only

People often face internet issues that cause difficulty in booking a Careem. To come around this problem, the company has announced the launch of Careem On-Call which allows users to book a car via phone call or SMS for as low as Rs 25.

“Careem On-Call is a big step towards inclusive growth which aims to bring people with limited access to internet or smartphone, into providing easy mobility. We will be creating thousands of pickup points across Pakistan where people will be able to book a ride with a simple SMS or a call,” said Asad Haider Khan, General Manager South, Careem.

In the first phase of the launch, Careem On-Call is available for bike only and is serving in 10 locations in Karachi including; Amma Tower, Civic Centre, Cantt Station, Shaheen Complex, Karachi University Maskan Gate, Water Pump, Teen Talwar, Nipa Chowrangi, Millenium Mall and Jinnah Hospital while the ride-hailing giant plans on expanding throughout the city eventually. Each location has a unique code that is only for that specific area.

Ride-hailing giants data sharing policies irks users

Through Careem On-Call, customers will book their rides by either calling 8990 or sending an SMS on the same number which will then direct them to type or say their unique location. Once the location is confirmed, they will receive a message within a minute and the captain will then be on their way. In case of a cancellation, the users can call or SMS on 8990 and cancel their ride with ease.
