Accord inked to fund NDMA, PRCS
NDMA’s project will be executed in eight districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa
ISLAMABAD:
The National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF) will provide Rs189.9 million and Rs159.577 million respectively to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), respectively. The money — to be extended as grant financing — will fund NDMA’s project on multi-hazard vulnerability risk assessment (MHVRA), while PRCS project ‘From Vulnerability to Resilience’ will be funded. The grant implementation agreements between NDRMF and the two entities were signed on Wednesday afternoon. NDMA’s project will be executed in eight districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and seven districts of Balochistan. It is a 20-month-long project, part of the third priority intervention under the National Disaster Management Plan (NDMP) 2012-2020 and is aligned with many national and international commitments so as to meet the priority needs to be defined in the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR) 2015-2030. The Rs189.9 million from NDRMF will comprise 70% of the project’s total cost of Rs277.7 million. The remaining sum of Rs87.9 million will be managed by NDMA.
