ISLAMABAD: An accountability court on Wednesday adjourned till May 22 the hearing against former finance minister Ishaq Dar and other accused in a reference pertaining to assets beyond known sources of income.

In the hearing, Qazi Misbah, the counsel for the co-accused Naeem Mehmood and Mansoor Rizvi, continued the cross-examination of the joint investigation team (JIT) head Wajid Zia.

Zia stated that the JIT had started the investigation on the directions of the Supreme Court to find answers of 13 questions. The defense counsel argued that the top court had not given directions for investigation against Ishaq Dar.

He inquired whether the JIT summoned Ishaq Dar for investigation purpose. At this, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor objected on the query and asked him to limit his cross-examining to his clients as he was not a legal counsel for the former finance minister.

The court adjourned the case till May 22, in which Wajid Zia’s cross-examination would continue.
