Cannes is the biggest and most glamourous international film festival, with superstars from all over the world walking the red carpet on the French Riviera.

The 11-day event is actually held to celebrate global cinema but it's become more of a bonafide fashion show nowadays. Those attending this year are probably elbows deep in preparing for it and that reportedly includes our very own Mahira Khan, who made her Cannes debut just last year. The Bin Roya starlet even ended up mingling with the likes of Jane Fonda and Sonam Kapoor there.

But not everyone was thrilled about Mahira's fashion choices for Cannes. In fact, we've got a thing or two to say about what Sonam and her fellow Bollywood attendees Deepika Padukone and Aishwarya Rai wore as well. So, here's a quick recap of their looks from last year's French gala and what we'd like them to look like this time around.

Mahira Khan

Who better than the Lollywood beauty to show the world what Pakistan is all about? Mahira Khan sported multiple looks at the festival last year, earning the praises of international media.

Whether it was her sensuous white halter-neck pantsuit, paired with a floral, blue kaftan, or the pretty pink outfit by Marie-Louis Carven, this girl had us mesmerised throughout her time in the Mediterranean town.

However, there were some outfits we think she could have done without. The yellow jumpsuit Mahira wore was rather unflattering and neither was the magenta cocktail dress. Even the strapless black gown she wore on the red carpet was a tad bit underwhelming.

Thankfully, the Humsafar beauty made up for it in a beautiful Menahel and Mehreen sari. We hope to see more of Mahira's signature 'less is more' style that she has become known for this year.

Deepika Padukone

Deepika is all set to turn heads at Cannes 2019.  But what is she wearing? The Chhapaak star hinted she's going to be donning red.  And considering her stunning wedding outfit, red is surely the perfect colour for her!

The Bollywood beauty, who is a regular at Cannes, has given many memorable looks at the event over the past few years. We're hoping this year won't be any different. While we hear her dress is a Peter Dundas creation, it will be the first time she sports a red outfit here.

Sonam Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor is another Cannes favourite, not to mention, known for being super fashion-savvy. The starlet has had several looks that have gone down in red carpet history for us, be it her fairy-like Elie Saab gown or her bridal looks last year.

Sonam has us pumped  for her appearances this year and we can't wait to see what she wears.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

We all remember the Jazbaa star's very bold, purple 'butterfly' dress.  It grabbed international media attention but with mixed reviews.  The bold Michael Cinco gown didn't really do justice to the former Miss World, though.  We hope to see her in something more memorable but in a good way...

Kangana Ranaut

Ooofff! ‘Queen’ Kangana Ranaut, like Mahira, made her debut at the film festival last year, and had us arrested in a beautiful Nedo By Nedret Taciroglu embroidered catsuit.

Letting her wild curls loose, the actress kept her accessories to the minimum by sporting diamond earrings and nude makeup with smokey eyes.  We hope to see her rock these bold and dramatic looks again.

Which of these stunners are you most excited to see this year?
