RAWALPINDI:
Additional District and Sessions Judge Aijaz Raza sentenced a man to serve 10-years in prison and imposed a fine of R100,000 after convicting him of kidnapping and raping a young girl. Raja Tanzeel Ahmed told the court that the Ratta Amral police had last year registered a case over the kidnapping of a young girl at gunpoint, detaining her illegally and then sexually assaulting her. He further said that the suspect had later prepared a fake nikahnama — in itself a serious crime —to cover his major crime. He demanded the court to award severe punishment to the suspect. After Judge Raza pronounced the sentence, he was arrested from the courtroom.
