RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has finally issued Rs55 million to the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) to launch development schemes in the Punjab Assembly constituency PP-15.

The funding is being provided by local lawmaker Umer Tanveer Butt who has redirected his discretionary funds. A similar sum of money is expected to be released in the next phase for development in the adjoining constituency of PP-14 as recommended by Punjab Law Minister Basharat Raja.

A team led by Cantonment Engineer Atiqur Rehman Chaudhry is working on finalizing the development schemes. The cantonment board, which has been designated as the executing agency for projects, is expected to complete all ongoing schemes for which it has already been directed to ensure transparency in its tendering process and to ensure the quality of the projects.
