QUETTA: At least four police officials were martyred and 12 other people got injured in an explosion near a market in Quetta's Satellite Town on Monday.

The explosion was carried out through an improvised explosive device planted in a motorcycle parked on the roadside, police said.

According to sources, a police vehicle deputed outside a mosque was also damaged in the blast.

The injured, which included both civilians and security officials, were shifted to a nearby hospital.

Police, Frontier Corps and other law enforcement forces arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to arrest the culprits.

The blast comes two days after a terrorist attack on Pearl Continental Hotel, Gwadar in which five people were martyred.
