In Balochistan, PA body stresses need for increasing Ushr fund in accordance with land

The Balochistan Assembly’s Standing Committee on Zakat, Hajj, Minority and Youth Affairs on Saturday recommended that the provincial government should increase Zakat allowance from Rs1,000 to Rs5,000.

The committee in its report stressed the need for increasing the provincial Ushr Fund in accordance with land instead of population following the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award.

It also recommended an increase in scholarships for students from 100 to 1,000.


Besides, it added, the monthly scholarships for students of seminaries must be increased from 200 to 3,000.

The committee suggested releasing Rs20 million each year for setting up a rehabilitation centre for beggars in Quetta.

The social welfare deputy director has recommended releasing Rs60 million for child protection units and purchasing vehicles for field work.

The committee has sought immediate announcement of vacant posts in the youth affairs department.
