Punjab IGP assures support for blast victims’ families

Says police are ready for any sacrifice and taking action against anti-social elements

Punjab Inspector General Police (IGP) Captain (retd) Arif Nawaz Khan said that brave officers sacrificing their lives were the pride of the force. “As the head of police welfare, the families of martyrs are my responsibility.”

He expressed these views while talking to the media during his visit to the house of Data Darbar blast martyr and Elite Force Head Constable Shahid Nazeer at Mustafabad in Kasur on Saturday.

Senate panel condemns Data Darbar blast

During the meeting, the IGP assured complete the cooperation of the Punjab police with Shahid’s family. Kasur DPO Abdul Ghaffar Qaisrani and other senior officers were present.

The IGP added that he will continue to take initiatives for the welfare of the victims’ families on a priority basis. “Families of police martyrs are like my own and I am personally monitoring the resolution of their problems so that they feel protected.”


Khan said that to uphold the rule of law in society and protect the lives of the public, the Punjab police was ready for any sacrifice, operation and crackdown against antisocial elements or terrorists.

JIT formed to investigate Data Darbar blast

The IGP stated that Punjab Police has more than 1,450 martyrs from all ranks. “The police force are playing the role of front line soldiers in the war against terrorism and no incident or attack can shake our resolve and commitment,” said the IGP.

He stated said that to bring the mastermind and facilitators of the Data Darbar blast to justice is a big challenge for the Lahore police, CTD and other law enforcement agencies. “However, all the departments are cooperating to crack this case,” the officer continued.
