Indian fishermen sent to jail
According to the order of the court, all Indian fishermen were taken in police custody
KARACHI:
West civil judge and judicial magistrate granted on Thursday judicial remand to 39 Indian fishermen arrested for violating maritime boundaries till May 21. The fishermen, including Pateem, Malni, Amla and Suwait, were arrested by the Pakistan Navy on Wednesday. They had illegally entered Pakistan’s maritime space and were fishing when the Navy arrested them and confiscated their boats. After legal formalities the fishermen were handed over to the dock police. The Docks Police filed a case against the fishermen under sections of the Foreign Act and the Fishery Act and presented it before court on Thursday. According to the order of the court, all Indian fishermen were taken in police custody.
