RAWALPINDI: Health experts on World Asthma Day laid stress on prevention for protection from the brreathiong disorder.

They added that smoking should be avoided especially by asthma patients.

District Health Authority (DHA) arranged an awareness walk to highlight the importance of the day. DHA Chief Executive Dr Rashid Khan said that asthma patients should take all protective measures in order to remain save from any painful situation.

World Asthma Day is an annual event organized by the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) to improve asthma awareness and care around the world. World Asthma Day takes place on the first Tuesday of May.

GINA organizes World Asthma Day, which is held on the first Tuesday in May, in collaboration with health care groups and asthma educators throughout the world.

Each year GINA chooses a theme and coordinates preparation and distribution of World Asthma Day materials and resources. GINA also maintains the World Asthma Day Internet Headquarters, where materials and resources are posted for downloading and a complete listing of activities around the world is constantly updated.
