Six killed in 975 accidents in 24 hours across Punjab

Data shows 408 drivers, 25 underage drivers, 141 pedestrians and 536 passengers among victims of crashes

LAHORE:
Around six people were killed while 1,079 were injured in 975 traffic accidents in Punjab during the past 24 hours.

Out of the 1,079 that were injured, 640 had to be shifted to different hospitals while the remaining 439 were provided first aid by rescue medical teams. Majority of the incidents, 63% to be specific, involved motorcycles highlighting the need for enforcing traffic laws and lane discipline in order to reduce traffic accidents.

The data also shows that 408 drivers, 25 underage drivers, 141 pedestrians and 536 passengers were among the victims of the road crashes.


The statistics also highlight that 239 traffic accidents were reported in Lahore which affected 243 individuals placing the provincial capital at top of the list. Lahore is followed by Faisalabad with 108 crashes and 119 victims and Multan with 64 crashes and 65 victims.

The details also show that 1,085 victims were affected in the traffic crashes including 788 males and 297 females.
