Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government will make the province free of leishmaniasis, malaria and dengue, said Health Minister Dr Hisham Inamullah Khan on Monday.
Federal government and World Health Organisation will help K-P control the mosquito-borne diseases, he said at a high-level meeting regarding dengue, malaria and leishmaniasis control programme.
“Provincial government is providing free medicines to Leishmaniasis patients,” Hisham said at the meeting attended by secretary health, director general health, WHO representatives and federal directorate health. Health minister also requested the Federal Health services to make sure supply of medicines used for treatment of these aliments and its effective control.
He directed a committee having representation of National Institute of Heath Islamabad and WHO to finalise strategy for control of Leishmaniasis and dengue for K-P including newly merged districts and directed other committee to chalk out research program for diagnosis of these diseases.
