As Muslims begin observing the month of Ramazan, British High Commissioner Thomas Drew sent on Monday his best wishes to faithfuls across Pakistan and elsewhere.

"Assalumaikum, I would like to personally and behalf of the British High Commission team wish those in Pakistan, Britain and around the world Ramazan mubarak," he said in a video posted on Twitter.

"I hope this month brings peace, friendship and prosperity...best wishes, from all at the British High Commission in Islamabad, to everyone marking the holy month of Ramazan - in Pakistan, Britain and around the world. #RamadanMubarak," he wrote.

Drew is one of many leaders to have sent his well-wishes for Ramazan.

United States President Donald Trump, in his message released by the White House, said: “I send my warmest greetings to all Muslims observing the holy month of Ramazan…Throughout this month, we all have an opportunity to reflect on the blessings we have been given and to work toward greater fellowship with one another.”

UK Prime Minister Theresa May also wished the Muslim community in a special message.
