Coca Cola reignites the passion for sports by bringing the iconic ICC World Cup Trophy to Pakistan
Earlier this year, Coca-Cola and the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that they have entered into a global strategic partnership to celebrate one of the world’s most popular sports - cricket. This means that the Cricket World Cup 2019 will exclusively entail the Coca-Cola Company’s non-alcoholic beverage as they partner with the ICC for the next five years, in order to promote cricket worldwide.
This year, for the first time in 23 years, Coca-Cola will have the edge as the Official Partner of CWC. The partnership will align both organisations for the long-term by combining the strength of the Coca-Cola Company’s diversified portfolio of over 500 brands as well as its worldwide reach with ICC’s unwavering focus to expand the sport’s footprint globally.
Coca-Cola Pakistan has always been supporting the passions of Pakistani people and this time around they managed to flabbergast everyone even more by bringing the ICC World Cup Trophy to Pakistan giving all the opportunity to view it personally and take photos with it. The trophy arrived in Islamabad on May 1, 2019 where it was displayed at the Serena Hotel and from thereon at the Marriott hotel on May 2, 2019.
From Islamabad onwards, the trophy toured its way to be exhibited at the Faletti's Hotel in Lahore on May 3, 2019. The trophy was displayed for viewing by the media, members of the digital community and by the public as it arrived in Pakistan.
This initiative successfully managed to rejuvenate the passion of Pakistanis all over the country as the cricket aficionados gathered to witness the prestigious trophy of one of the most anticipated international competitions of the world of cricket. The silver and gold Trophy is made up of three silver columns holding a golden globe. The columns represent batting, bowling and fielding and the globe symbolises a cricket ball. Moreover, the trophy encompasses the list of ICC champions over the years.
Rizwan U. Khan, General Manager, Coca-Cola Export Corporation Pakistan and Afghanistan stated at the occasion: “Coca-Cola has endlessly worked in elevating Pakistan’s positive image on the international front. The arrival of the ICC World Cup 2019 Trophy to Pakistan is evidence of this magnificent achievement, as the passion for cricket is amongst the strongest threads that bind this nation together. The ICC World Cup is an opportunity to once again express national solidarity beyond any intersectional identities and the entire nation stands behind our team in wishing it all the best for bringing the World Cup home. Coca-Cola and ICC recognize and value such passion and sentiments and aspire to create lasting moments of sheer happiness and joy for all Pakistanis through this collaboration”.
