Crackdown to be launched against wheat hoarders

KHANEWAL: Provincial Minister for Management and Professional Development Syed Hussain Jahania Gardezi said that crackdown would be launched against wheat hoarders and their stock would be seized.

The minister expressed these views while presiding over a meeting regarding wheat procurement drive and Ramazan bazaars.

He said that Punjab CM Sardar Usman Buzdar had made the wheat procurement policy open to facilitate growers, adding that every grain would be procured from growers.

He said that growers could get gunny  bags from wheat procurement centres as per their requirement.

He said that Buzdar directed that payments to wheat growers be made on a daily basis and there should be no complaint in this regard. Profiteering at open market would not be tolerated, he said, adding that the chief minister was monitoring the Ramazan Bazaars and there would be no compromise on the quality and rates of commodities.
