KARACHI: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted the temperature to stay between 36 and 38 degree Celsius, as the four-day-long spell of heatwave in Karachi finally ends today (Sunday).

According to Chief Meteorologist Abdur Rasheed, temperature will gradually drop in the city and weather is expected to improve on Monday.

Met office has also said that the weather during the next three days may remain moderate and therefore, the weather at the start of Ramazan will be tolerable.

However, if any chance of an increase in temperature occurs heatwave centres will issue an alert three days in advance, said the Met office.

Temperatures may decrease by two to three degrees today

The recent heatwave in Karachi lasted from May 1 to May 4 and ended as the northwestern winds from the sea, which had remained suspended for long periods time, were restored on Saturday morning. However, the feel of the weather was not unusually hot on the last day of the recent heatwave despite high temperatures, due to low moisture level in the air.

As long as the heatwave lasted, heatstroke relief centres established in the city remained functional and emergencies were declared in hospitals. Sindh Rangers had also set up 30 heatstroke camps in different areas of Karachi to provide assistance to citizens. Medical experts had asked the citizens to avoid getting out in the sun unnecessarily.
