Bollywood star Rishi Kapoor finally disclosed in a recent interview with Deccan Chronicle that he had been battling cancer for the last eight months.

However, Rishi still needs a bone-marrow transplant. "I will have to do a bone-marrow transplant which in all probability should take another two months at minimum," he added.

The 66-year-old thanked his fans and family for keeping him in their prayers. "Being in remission is a big thing and it's all because of the duas of my family and fans.”

Rishi also talked about the contribution of his wife Neetu Kapoor and their children Ranbir and Riddhima, who frequently visited him in the US.

"Neetu has stood by me like a rock. Otherwise I am too difficult a person to handle as far as food and drinks are concerned. My kids have really shouldered my problems,” stated the Hum Tum star.

While Rishi left for the US in September 2018, the nature of his illness was kept under tight wraps by the Kapoor family. Neetu's post in which she wrote, "Hope in the future cancer is only a zodiac sign,” first sparked speculations of Rishi battling cancer.
