Appointments: District courts get three new judges

Three new judges have been appointed to the lower courts of the capital.

Three new judges have been appointed to the lower courts of the capital.


The Islamabad High Court (IHC) appointed two additional sessions judges (ADJs) and one district sessions judge in district courts.

Muzaffar Ali Shah has been appointed district sessions judge, after the transfer of Uzma Chughtai.

Kamran Basharat Mufti and Wajahat have been appointed as additional sessions judges.


Shah and Mufti were previously serving as additional registrars in the Islamabad High Court.

However, one seat of additional sessions judge is still vacant after the transfer of Muhammad Akmal Khan, who was transferred on
May 25. The two posts fell vacant when Judge Tanvir Mir was transferred on May 12 and Rafat Sultan on June 21.

Mahmood Haroon was promoted as senior civil judge from the post of civil judge after the transfer of Muhammad Aslam Gondal, who was appointed in January 2011 and was transferred six months later in June.

Three judicial magistrates including Kashif Qayyum, Malik Naeem Shaukat, and Rai Liaquat Kharal are also performing their duties in the city court.
