A new software and a related mobile application, developed with the support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), will strengthen the maternal and child health sector in Punjab by digitising the reporting, processing and archiving of healthcare providers’ training records.
Speaking at an event held to launch the application, USAID Project Management Specialist Dr Ismail Virk voiced hope that joint US-Pakistan efforts would help achieve the countries’ common goal of reducing maternal and child mortality. Minister of Population Welfare Col (retd) Muhammad Hashim Dogar welcomed the introduction of innovative technologies to transform the health sector.

Tadrees, the new software, will reduce duplication in training records and ensure training opportunities are divided equitably among healthcare workers. Records were previously maintained manually. Tadrees will be supplemented by Supportive Supervision, an android-based application, which will institutionalise post-training support to enhance the knowledge, skills, and performance of service providers working for the Punjab Health and Population Welfare departments.
In partnership with the Pakistani government, USAID aims to strengthen the skills of healthcare providers and community-based health workers in Punjab, Balochistan, and Sindh. In Punjab, the programme has trained healthcare workers in 29 out of 36 districts.
