Police officials successfully disarmed two bombs found near a local madrassah on Saturday morning.
According to Civil Lines Police officials, they discovered two bombs, weighing eight kg each, near a wall of a local madrassah located near Awan Chowk. A bomb disposal squad was called by the police to disarm the devices and after half an hour both bombs had been successfully diffused. “We received a call about a plastic bag containing bombs found near Madrassah Nooriah,” said Superintendent Police Kashif Athar. “I received a call from a teacher at the school, who told me that several children had discovered explosive materials in the bag,” he added. Police officials said that they were conducting a detailed inquiry into the incident and had sent the materials to a lab for testing. Nearby buildings were evacuated by authorities to avoid a mishap, while the bomb was being diffused. Police officials said that intelligence agencies had been informed.
