Cricket: Gayle, Warner to join Sydney Thunders

Gayle has demanded in excess of $250,000 and Warner $140,000 to play with the side.

MELBOURNE:
The Sydney Thunders Twenty20 side has reportedly signed two of the biggest available names, Chris Gayle and David Warner for the Big Bash T20 tournament. It is understood that Gayle has demanded in excess of $250,000 and Warner $140,000 to play with the side. Gayle has also reportedly rejected an offer from the Perth Scorchers. With the eight Big Bash teams limited to a salary cap of just over $1m, this means the two players have soaked up over a third of the team’s budget.
