Top cop lauds Balochistan police sacrifices
Butt says at least 911 policemen, including officers, have lost their lives fighting terror

Balochistan police has rendered great sacrifices to protect the lives of the people and restoring peace in the province and never bowed down against terror, said Inspector General of Police Mohsin Hassan Butt here on Tuesday.
The IG noted that the Balochistan government was making all out efforts to make police force more professional and effective.
The IG said that 911 police officials, including DIGs, SSPs, DSPs and other police officials lost their lives while fighting against terrorists.
Giving the details of the police martyrs, Butt said that two DIGs, two SSPs, one ASP, 19 DSPs, 23 inspectors, 75 sub-inspectors, 54 ASIs, 164 head constables, 552 constables and 79 class four employees of police department were included in the list who lost their lives during the last 10 years.
The police chief said that like other provinces, posts of SI, ASI, head constables and lower staff’s up-gradation had been approved by the previous governments but due to some unavoidable circumstances, it could not be implemented.

IGP Butt visited the under construction sites of police stations, including Civil Lines and women police station. The concerned police officials while briefing the inspector general said that 70 percent of construction work of Civil Lines police station could be completed due to want of funds. The government had released 60pc funds, while the remaining 40pc would be provided soon.
The IG while talking to newsmen said that construction of the building for Gwalmandi Police station was near completion and the staff had started moving there.
He also informed that the building for First Women Police Station of Balochistan was being constructed at a cost of Rs50 million.
“With the opening of first women police station, most of the legal and social issues of women will be resolved,” he said and added that due to taboos, women could not visit police stations to get registered their complaints.

The IGP noted that in other provinces, separate women police stations had already been established and with the completion of women police station, jobs will be created for the females.
Replying to a question, he said that funds for five new police stations had been received and their construction would start soon.
AIG Development Jaffar Khan, SSP Operations Behram Mandokhail, SSP city Abdullah Afridi and SSP legal Hameedullah Dasti were also present on the occasion.
