Pakistan sent packing from rugby event
Tourists lose to Indonesia, finishing fourth.
KARACHI:
Pakistan’s run at the Asian Five Nation (A5N) Rugby Tournament Division III matches came to a halt when hosts Indonesia ousted the greens 20-19 in Jakarta.
Initially, Pakistan led the match 7-0 but could not hold on to their lead when the hosts bounced back and equalised the score. There on, Indonesia capitalised on the match and sealed victory 20-19 five minutes before stoppage time.
“It’s disappointing that we lost to such weak sides,” Pakistan Rugby Union President Fawzi Khwaja told The Express Tribune. “We’re lucky the Asian Rugby Union has decided not to relegate any team from division III. Now we will have a good chance for the tournament next year.”
