LAHORE: An accountability court on Monday approved Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif request to provide exemption from hearing in the Ramzan Sugar Mills case and Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing scheme scam. The court postponed the hearing of both the cases till the 11th of May.

According to details, the hearing of the case took place in front of duty judge Muhammad Waseem Akhtar owing to the leave of administrative judge Syed Najamul Hassan because of illness.

Shehbaz was unable to appear before the court again as he was abroad. His son, the Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Shehbaz Sharif appeared before the court.

During the hearing, the honourable court summoned Hamza to the rostrum and inquired if he wanted to say anything about the absence of his father from the court upon which he replied that he has appeared before the court.

The court had summoned the witnesses to record their statements in the cases but owing to the leave of the respected court, no proceedings in the case could take place. The duty judge has summoned all the witnesses again and postponed the hearing till the 11th of May.

Hamza said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz does not want to topple the government to give Imran Khan the chance to become a political martyr.

He said “Our enemies all over the world were getting together while the incumbent government has no other task but to harass the opposition”. He hit out at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government, saying that the public was being crushed under the weight of inflation.
