The WHO team called on UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ashraf and discussed matter of mutual concern. The vice chancellor stated that professionals in public health, plant health and the environment should join forces to support the one health approach in order to prevent disease outbreaks, handle food safety issues and epidemics.
WHO Punjab Head Dr Jamshed Ahmed called for constituting a team of experts at a varsity level to jointly work on zoonotic diseases. Department of Entomology Chairman Mansoorul Hassan said that the department ia arranging an exhibition on vector borne diseases on April 30. He stated that all-out efforts were being made to address different plant diseases, insects and pest management at a national level. Dr Waseem Akram briefed the team about the different ways to tackle dengue. He stressed on the need for organising training workshops on resistance management and alternative options.
