He stated this during a meeting with a delegation of the All Pakistan Public Transporters Federation
LAHORE:
Provincial Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Local Government (LG) Raja Basharat said that issues being faced by public transporters in Lahore would be redressed on a priority basis to provide better facilities to passengers.
He stated this during a meeting with a delegation of the All Pakistan Public Transporters Federation (APPTF) at his Punjab Assembly office on Monday. The delegation, headed by the president of APPTF Malik Nadeem Hussain, presented a number of problems that needed to be resolved by the local government. Nadeem requested an upgrade of the General Bus Stand (GBS) Badami Bagh from C to B category and initiate the required development works.
Bumper to bumper: One car too many on Lahore’s roads
The annual income from the bus stands of Lahore becomes Rs. 890 million and reportedly, not a single penny was being spent on the betterment of bus stand. It was demanded that these funds must be spent where they are collected from.
To fix the responsibility for misappropriation of these funds, a special audit of the past years may be ordered by a worthy minister. Moreover, the sewage system of GBS Badami Bagh may be improved and sheds for the commuters will be constructed”.
