RAWALPINDI:
Provincial Law Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja on Sunday announced to release a special grant worth Rs3 million for the Rawalpindi High Court Bar Association before the next fiscal budget.

He promised this during a meeting with a six-member delegation of the Rawalpindi High Court Bar Association (RHCBA). The delegation was headed by the RHCBA President Ghulam Mustafa, while the other members included RHCBA Senior Vice President Syed Hasnain Ali, General Secretary Faisal Malik and other officials.

The delegation told the minister that a hospital for lawyers had been established near Punjab House in 2012 but the land of the hospital was never transferred to the lawyers’ trust and that the land is still owned by the Punjab government.

They further stated that the hospital’s construction has been pending ever since.

At this, Basharat directed the Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner to complete process of transferring the land of the hospital to the lawyer’s trust. The minister further assured the delegation that the hospital’s layout plan will be approved by the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) while funds to build the hospital will be released before the next budget.

Further, the lawyers’ delegation told the provincial minister that construction of a hall in the Hasan Abdal Tehsil Bar as well as a complex to house lawyers’ chambers in Kallar Sayedan had been facing delays for a long period owing to which the lawyers were facing a number of difficulties.

They added the construction of a judicial complex for the Gujjar Khan Bar has also been facing delays because just like the hospital, the land meant for the complex has yet to be transferred and funds for its construction were not available.

The provincial law minister assured the delegation that he will personally look into these matters when he returns to Lahore and promised that working on these issues will commence forthwith.

The delegation invited the minister to visit the High Court Bar which he immediately accepted. The minister is expected to visit the bar next month.
