Army chief lauds sacrifices of Azad Kashmir Regiment for war against terrorism

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has appreciated the contributions and sacrifices of Azad Kashmir Regimental for the defence of motherland during conventional as well as in war against terrorism.

According the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief remarked while visiting Azad Kashmir Regimental Centre on Thursday where he also installed Lieutenant General Sher Afgun as Colonel Commandant of AK Regiment.

Upon arrival the COAS laid floral wreath at the martyrs’ monument.


Outgoing Colonel of AK Regiment Lieutenant General Hidayatur Rehman, Commander Rawalpindi Corps Lieutenant General Bilal Akbar, a large number of serving and retired officers and soldiers attended the ceremony.



Earlier on April 12, the Pakistan Army announced the promotions of four major generals to the rank of lieutenant general.

The promoted officers include Major General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Maj Gen Nauman Mahmood, Maj Gen Azhar Abbas and Maj Gen Faiz Hameed.
