Iconic buildings in Abu Dhabi lit up with the colours of the Sri Lankan flag as a demonstration of solidarity with the victims of the recent Easter suicide bombings on Thursday, Khaleej Times reported.

Some of the monuments that were decked up in Sri Lanka's colours included the Emirates Palace, Sheikh Zayed Bridge, ADNOC building and Capital Gate.

According to the police, the death toll in a series of suicide bomb blasts on Easter Sunday targeting hotels and churches in Sri Lanka rose to 359.

In addition, at least 500 people were injured in the attacks.

The blasts have been claimed by the Islamic State group, with Sri Lanka’s government pointing the finger at the little-known local militant group National Thowheeth Jama’ath, but saying the group likely had ‘international’ help.
