Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari has said the government would continue its efforts to implement the six-point agreement signed with Balochistan National Party (BNP) led by Akhtar Mengal to ensure peace and security in the province.
Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly on Wednesday, she urged the speaker to play his role in implementing the agreement with BNP.
“The draft bill on enforced disappearances was prepared by the Human Rights Ministry. It is now with the Law Ministry,” she informed the house, while calling on the speaker to ensure that the process is expedited.
She added that the government was committed to providing development resources to Balochistan and include all stakeholders in the province in the decision-making process.

Member of National Assembly (MNA) Akhtar Mengal, while talking about the security situation in the province of Balochistan, said that the attack on the Hazara community was one of a series of attacks aimed at disrupting peace in the province.
In another incident that occurred 400 kilometres away from the Iran border, people were taken out of buses and shot dead, he added.
He said that while he had presented the six points to the government which provided a roadmap to resolve the problems of the people of Balochistan, the government was yet to form a committee to take it up despite the passage of nearly nine months.
The demands, agreed to by the PTI, include the recovery of missing persons, provision of jobs for Baloch youth, prosecution of those involved in extra-judicial killings; and suspension of operations by security forces.
The BNP-M chief also brought the attention of the house to the situation in the province in the aftermath of the recent rains that resulted in flash flooding, causing loss of life and livelihood in various parts of the province.
