Steps to increase mango exports bearing fruit

The Punjab government’s five-year plan to increase mango exports by almost double is heading forward successfully with the help of growers in the region, said Mango Research Institute In charge Dr Abdul Ghaffar Garewal.
Pakistan exports seven per cent of the total mangoes produced. Efforts are underway to enhance exports and earn foreign exchange, he stated.
Pakistani mangoes are popular across the world because of their taste, aroma and shape, he said adding that the Punjab government introduced a five-year programme called ‘Establishment of model farm linked with improved post-harvest technology’.
